Craig Lowell is a native of Suffolk, Virginia and now resides in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He began creating artwork in 1983 at the tender age of 6, and, as with any child introduced to crayons, was inspired by the endless possibilities of what he could create from the beginning. Since then, Craig has enjoyed learning new techniques to improve his craft in his spare time aside from his current professional career of Construction Inspector III with Virginia Beach Department of Public Utilities. He especially enjoys painting landscapes and also creates pen and ink drawings of historic structures to capture snapshots of natural beauty that lies within the world around us in hopes that generations that follow will be able to enjoy what we now see.
Craig enjoys what he does and is thankful for the gift he has been given to create works of art to be enjoyed for generations to come. He continues to look for new things to bring to life and hopes to one day have the opportunity to write and illustrate or illustrate a children’s book or collaborate with someone to create animation for a movie production. Craig is always looking for new ways to showcase his talent.
Craig has had the wonderful privilege of collaborating with and producing 3 artworks that were used for the covers of 3 books written by Janice B. Holland. Two of which, “Beacons, Prayers, and Processes”, and “Friends, Family, and Faith” have been published. The third book is currently in progress to be published.Craig has also recently had the pleasure of collaborating with Mr. Roy Clark and Mr. Wayne Flora to create a pen and ink drawing of the Old Cape Henry Lighthouse located in Virginia Beach Virginia. Craig then used his drawing to design the cover art and CD label art for “The Lighthouse”, a song created and performed by Mr. Roy Clark for the Masonic Home of Virginia.
